Ernst Wagner
Ernst Harrison Wagner ('15) died in Riverside, IL, on December 3, 1968. Wagner retired in 1958 from his position as head of the Employment and Personnel Division of the Industrial Relations Department of Swift Company. He had been with Swift for 40 years. He then served as a research associate with the Industrial Relations Center, University of Chicago. From 1915 to 1919 Wagner was a school administrator and then served with the First Field Artillery, U.S. Army, in World War I. During WW II he served as an instructor in personnel management in the evening school of Wheaton College and DePaul University. He was very active in community and church affairs. He was president of the Riverside Village Trustees for 8 years and served in numerous other capacities. In 1953 he was guest of honor at an appreciate banquet sponsored by the Riverside Chamber of Commerce. Here he received an "Outstanding Citizen" citation. He was survived by his wife, the former Nerma Fellows, and four children. |
