John Leander Stratton

John Leander Stratton was born to Abram (February 18, 1805-August 28, 1877) and Sarah Baggs (April 19, 1814-September 18, 1900) Stratton (married October 1, 1831, Putnam Co, IL) on August 3, 1848. He was a brother to Samuel Fay Stratton (class of 1865). He took some of his preparatory studies at Oberlin College and then attended Wheaton College, graduating in 1876. The following year his father, originally from Ulster County, New York, passed away. Stratton married classmate Rowena Hudson who died in childbirth in 1879 while the couple lived in Topeka, Indiana. Stratton then married Calista Thompson (1850-1914) and lived in Ottawa, Kansas. Together J. Leander and Calista had two children, Marian and Bayard Lucius. Stratton died in 1936.
