Daniel Grubb

Daniel S. Grubb was born April 1, 1928 in London, England to Norman Percy Grubb and Pauline Evangeline Priscilla (Studd) Grubb. He came to the United States in 1947 and settled in the Philadelphia area. He graduated from Wheaton College in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Daniel attended and taught at the Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia before serving in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Rosemary Callan on June 4, 1960. He received a Master of Arts degree in teaching at Duke University and taught English at several high schools in the south during that time. Later, he moved to Evart, Michigan and taught high school English for a year. Next he taught English at Zeeland High School for four years. Daniel earned his second masters degree in English while teaching at Zeeland. He moved to Ann Arbor to begin work on his PhD in 1962. He received his doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1967. Dr. Grubb was a Professor of English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 1967 until his retirement in 1995. In the mid 1980's, Dr. Grubb was ordained as an Episcopal priest and helped out at several different churches. The Grubbs purchased a retirement home in Oceana County's Grant Township and moved there in 1995. Daniel Grubb died in Grant Township, New Era, Michigan, on February 16, 2012 at age 83 and is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his son, Daniel S.(Marlene) Grubb, Jr. and many grandchildren.
