Charles Hadley
Charles William Hadley ('99) died at the age of 75 in DuPage Hospital, Elmhurst, following an operation the day before. Hadley, former state attorney of DuPage County, former assistant attorney general of Illinois, was the oldest practicing lawyer in DuPage county in point of service. Prominent in legal, fraternal and church circles, Mr. Hadley served on the Board of Trustees of the Gary Memorial Methodist Church in Wheaton. He had served as chairman of the finance committee at the time the present church structure was built. After receiving his A.B. degree from Wheaton College, Hadley went on to Northwestern University Law School where he received his L.L.B. in 1902. Election to various public offices, and coping with difficult situations earned him the reputation of an unusually able prosecutor. Wheaton City Hall and Court House flags were flown at half mast in honor of Mr. Hadley. He was survived by his wife, Harriet Guild Hadley, and his brother, Rutherford Hadley. |
