William Dobbie

Lieutenant General Sir William Dobbie of the British army spoke in chapel on May 17, 1945. Dobbie gained fame for heroically standing against Hitler's attack on the island of Malta. The Luftwaffe bombed it continuously at 261 raids per month until Allied reinforcements finally arrived in May, 1942. Dobbie survived nearly 2,300 air attacks. A member of the Plymouth Brethren, Dobbie conducted Bible studies for his Christian officers in his home on Malta.
