Chauncey W. Reed
Chauncey W. Reed
Chauncey W. Reed, Republican congressman, spoke to Wheaton College students in the upper chapel in January, 1946, addressing such issues as congressional activities, compulsory military training and the atom bomb. He also spoke about a recent American loan to Great Britain: "If I were a bank president, and you came to me to borrow $10,000, having never paid back a $1,000 loan, I would want to talk a little collateral before making another loan." Before his term as representative, Reed served as Illinois state attorney for 14 years. |
