Jay Hanna "Dizzy" Dean
Dizzy Dean (1910-1974), famed St. Louis Cardinal star pitcher and later '53 Hall of Famer, was invited in 1937 by Coach Fred Walker to speak for the football banquet. The colorful Dean strolled about campus, expressing to students his admiration for the college. Aside from his achievements in sports, he was known for gleefully butchering the English language. |
