Joe Henry Hankins

Dr. Joe Henry Hankins, pastor and evangelist from Little Rock, Arkanas, preached for a week in Pierce Memorial Chapel during morning and evening services in September, 1943. Using "prayer" as his theme, his messages were entitled, "Pray Without Ceasing," "He That is Not for Me is Against Me," Old time Religion" and "God's Glorious Gospel." For the final service local churches joined the assembly in the Physical Education Building. Hankins entered the ministry at age 35. For eight years he pastored First Baptist Church of Childress, Arkansas, before accepting a call to Little Rock, ministering there for five years. He received a BA and BS from Ouachita Baptist College, and a DD from Howard Payne college. Hankins served overseas with the first Arkansas regiment during WWI, spending nine months in France as an interpreter for the Army.
