Football
The Wheaton Football Team's only loss in its 1904 season was to the School of the Art Institute. In these early years of football looked disparagingly upon by Pres. Charles Blanchard-- student athletes often made their own uniforms and played without a coach and were overseen by volunteer referees (with or without a rule book). For many years, President Blanchard put football in the same category with gambling and hard liquor. |
