Royal T. Morgan

Morgan was born in Campton (Kane County), Illinois on March 9, 1845. During the Civil War he enlisted (December 1863) in Company H of the 17th Cavalry and was discharged as a corporal two years later. Upon returning to Wheaton he took courses at Wheaton College and graduated from classical course in 1874. He later received a Master's degree in 1877. He was elected county superintendent of schools in 1886.
