Founded nationally in 1921 as the honors society for physics majors, Wheaton's chapter was begun in 1931. The society's motto is "Investigation, the forerunner of knowledge." At one point Wheaton's society produced Wheaton Radiations, a publication for the presentation of papers and the discussion of scientific problems.
