"The Tower" was the tallest building in the city of Wheaton when it was built in 1970. Originally intended to house women, it was decided that the new dorm would house men when Fischer Hall was integrated. The building was named in 1972 for George M. Traber, a former trustee and president of the Perry Knitting Company. The name also honors his wife Isabelle and his daughter Bessie. Like Smith Hall, this building sits on the site of President Charles A. Blanchard's home (611 Howard St.). |
