Robert E. Hedstrom was was born on May 22, 1924 in Hollywood, CA to Lowry H. and Marie Hedstrom. He was raised in Lombard and graduated from Wheaton Academy in 1942. Bob's military service in the European Theatre was from June, 1942 to November, 1945, where he served under General George Patton. He graduated from Wheaton College in 1950 where he met his wife of 64 years, Ellen Bowler '49. They were married January 1, 1946 and had three daughters. Bob was an exhibit salesman for trade shows where his design and artistic talent won many awards. He also volunteered for the Billy Graham telephone ministry, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Center and Cantigny for many years. He was a long-time member of the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church where he served several terms on the mission board. He died in Wheaton, IL on July 1, 2011 at age 87.
